The Divine Descent from Heaven

In Japanese mythology, Ninigi-no-Mikoto is the grandson of the sun goddess Amaterasu and the divine ancestor of Japan’s imperial lineage. He plays a central role in the myth known as the Tenson Kōrin, or “Heavenly Descent,” in which a divine being is sent from the realm of the gods to bring order and harmony to the human world.

According to legend, Amaterasu entrusted Ninigi with the responsibility of ruling the earth and sent him down from the heavenly plain of Takamagahara to the land of Takachiho in present-day Japan. With him he carried the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan — the mirror, the sword, and the magatama jewels — sacred symbols representing wisdom, courage, and legitimacy.

瓊瓊杵尊（ニニギノミコト）― 天から降り立った神

瓊瓊杵尊（ににぎのみこと）は、日本神話において太陽神・天照大神の孫にあたる神であり、 日本の皇統の祖先とされる重要な存在です。 彼は「天孫降臨（てんそんこうりん）」と呼ばれる神話の中心人物で、 天上の世界から地上へと遣わされた神として知られています。

伝説によれば、天照大神は地上の世界を治める使命を瓊瓊杵尊に託し、 高天原から日向の高千穂の地へと降臨させました。 その際に授けられたのが、 鏡・剣・勾玉からなる「三種の神器」です。 これらは知恵、勇気、そして正統性を象徴する神聖な宝物とされています。
