The Blossom Princess of Fire and Mount Fuji

Konohanasakuya-hime is a goddess in Japanese mythology whose name means “the princess who makes the blossoms bloom.” She is widely associated with cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji, and is often remembered as a symbol of beauty and the fleeting nature of life.

According to ancient legend, Konohanasakuya-hime married Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the heavenly grandson of the sun goddess. To prove her purity, Konohanasakuya-hime entered a burning hut and gave birth within the flames.
