Unlike many creatures of folklore, Gashadokuro does not roar or announce its presence. Its immense form moves quietly, making its appearance all the more terrifying. By the time it is seen, escape is often impossible.

忘れ去られた戦と飢えの果てに、生まれた存在がある。
がしゃどくろは、戦や飢饉で命を落とした人々の骨が集まり、巨大な骸骨となった妖怪とされています。そこには、成仏できなかった無念や怨念が宿り、夜の闇の中を静かに彷徨います。
多くの妖怪とは異なり、がしゃどくろは音を立てることなく現れます。その巨大な姿にもかかわらず、気配は静かで、気づいた時にはすでに逃げ場はありません。
