The First Chord Is Already Moving

The guitar neck arrives before almost anything else. It cuts across the page, close enough to feel loud, while Benzaiten leans into the performance with one eye closed and no trace of stage fright.
I wanted the opening page to feel welcoming rather than ceremonial. The flowers, wave curls, headphones, and little flashes of graffiti all join the same beat, so the old water-and-music imagery never has to stop the song for an explanation.
A Poster Built Around One Hand
The foreshortened hand on the strings is the risky, useful part of the composition. It gives the page its snap. Behind it, the speaker circle and the floral ornaments keep the figure from becoming a generic guitarist.
There are plenty of details, but they sit in families: strings, petals, water curls, and round audio shapes. Coloring one family at a time makes the page much calmer than it first appears.
Why Benzaiten Belongs Here
Benzaiten came to Japan through older traditions surrounding the Indian goddess Saraswati. Over time she became closely associated with music, eloquence, flowing water, and the arts. The biwa is her familiar instrument in Japanese imagery.
This page does not dress her as a museum figure. Instead, it asks what that musical presence might look like on a street poster now: headphones around the neck, a decorated electric instrument, and wave shapes that behave almost like sound.
My Marker Plan

I would begin with the guitar body and repeat one bright pink in the flower centers and headphone rings. Black can stay dominant in the jacket and background shapes; a little warm gold is enough for hardware.
On the white hair, I would use only a cool gray at the roots and under overlapping locks. Too much shading would compete with the instrument, which deserves the loudest color on the page.
A Small Pause Before the Next Song
This is a page for coloring with music on. It does not need every splash filled. A few untouched white areas make the black shapes and bright accents feel sharper.
