Formed from the bones of those who died without burial, often in times of war or famine, Gashadokuro is said to wander the night, driven by deep resentment and suffering. It moves silently despite its massive size, approaching without warning until it is far too late to escape.

Unlike ordinary spirits, Gashadokuro is not just a creature—it is an accumulation of unresolved grief, anger, and forgotten lives. Its towering form represents the weight of the past, rising from beneath the earth to remind the living of what has been left behind.

In this illustration, the Gashadokuro emerges from a field of gravestones, its enormous presence dominating the landscape. Swirling winds, scattered bones, and tattoo-inspired patterns of clouds and flames surround the figure, enhancing the sense of movement and unease.

がしゃどくろ ― 巨大骸骨の妖怪

日本の伝承に登場する中でも、特に恐ろしい存在とされる妖怪「がしゃどくろ」。

戦や飢饉などで弔われることなく亡くなった人々の骨が集まり、怨念によって生まれたとされています。巨大な体を持ちながらも音もなく忍び寄り、気づいた時にはすでに手遅れ——そんな恐怖が語り継がれています。

がしゃどくろは単なる怪物ではなく、忘れ去られた命や未練、悲しみが積み重なった存在です。その姿は、過去の重みそのものが地上に現れたかのような圧倒的な存在感を放ちます。

本作品では、墓石が立ち並ぶ地から巨大な骸骨が姿を現し、周囲には風や骨、雲や炎を思わせる和彫り風の模様が流れています。画面全体に動きと不穏な空気が広がり、見る者に強い印象を与えます。
