The Laughing God of Abundance

Hotei is one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan, easily recognized by his joyful smile, round belly, and the large cloth sack he carries on his back. Unlike many other deities associated with power or battle, Hotei represents happiness, generosity, and the simple joy of living.
