Myth & Concept

Ibaraki Dōji is one of the most feared oni in Japanese folklore, often known as the fierce right-hand of Shuten Dōji.

He is not a king. He is not a commander.

He is a warrior driven by obsession.

In one of the most famous legends, his arm was severed by the samurai Watanabe no Tsuna during a fierce battle.

For most beings, such a wound would mean defeat.

For Ibaraki Dōji, it meant nothing.

He did not retreat. He did not surrender.

Instead, he returned—again and again—relentless in his pursuit.

This is what defines him.

Not power. Not status.

But persistence beyond reason.
