A Woman of Beauty and Bone

Some yokai exist between what we wish to see and what truly lies beneath.

Hone-onna is a haunting presence that embodies both beauty and decay. At first glance, she appears as an elegant woman—calm, graceful, and almost inviting.

But that appearance is only half of the truth.

Beneath the surface, something else is revealed. Through torn wrappings and fragile layers, glimpses of bone emerge, quietly exposing what remains hidden beneath the illusion.

One eye reflects human warmth. The other is hollow—an empty gaze that does not belong to the living.

There is no clear boundary. Life and death exist side by side, unable to separate.

The longer you look, the more uncertain everything becomes. Is she alive? Or has she already crossed into something else?

Hone-onna does not threaten. She does not move.

She simply exists— in a place where beauty and decay cannot be distinguished.

骨女（ほねおんな）

私たちが見たいものと、本当にそこにあるもの。 その境界に存在する妖怪がいます。

骨女は、美しさと腐敗を同時に体現する存在です。 一見すると、穏やかで美しい女性の姿をしています。 静かで、どこか引き寄せられるような佇まいです。

しかしそれは、ほんの一面にすぎません。

包帯の隙間や崩れた表面からは、 骨の構造が静かに現れ、 その下に隠された真実を覗かせます。

片方の目は人間らしい温かさを持ち、 もう片方は空洞のまま、 生きているものではない視線を向けています。

そこに明確な境界はありません。 生と死が、同時に存在しています。

見つめるほどに、その区別は曖昧になっていきます。 彼女は生きているのか。 それとも、すでに別の存在なのか。

骨女は脅しません。 動くこともありません。

ただそこに在るだけです。 美しさと朽ちゆくものが、 分かたれることなく存在する場所に。
