The Long-Necked Woman

Not all yokai reveal themselves through violence. Some appear quietly, hidden within ordinary lives.

Rokurokubi are mysterious beings known for their unnaturally stretching necks. By day, they look like normal humans—calm, composed, and often indistinguishable from anyone around them.

But when night falls, their true nature emerges. Their necks extend silently, reaching across rooms, slipping into spaces unseen, observing what should remain private.

What drives them is unclear. Curiosity. Obsession. Or something deeper that cannot be easily explained.

In this interpretation, Rokurokubi takes the form of a modern working woman, alone in a quiet office late at night. While her body remains seated at the desk, her elongated neck drifts through shelves and screens, as if drawn by an endless desire to know.

There is no sound. No sudden movement. Only a quiet presence that should not be there.

And by the time you notice— she has already been watching.

ろくろ首（長い首の女）

すべての妖怪が、暴力的な姿で現れるわけではありません。 中には、日常の中に静かに紛れ込む存在もいます。

ろくろ首は、首が異様に伸びることで知られる妖怪です。 昼間は普通の人間と変わらず、 落ち着いた佇まいで周囲に溶け込みます。

しかし夜になると、その本性が現れます。 首は静かに伸び、部屋の隅や視線の届かない場所へと滑り込み、 本来見るべきでないものを覗き込むのです。

その行動の理由ははっきりしません。 単なる好奇心なのか、執着なのか、 あるいはもっと深い何かによるものなのか。

このイラストでは、現代のキャリアウーマンとしてのろくろ首を描いています。 深夜の静かな空間で仕事を続ける彼女。 その身体はデスクに留まったまま、 伸びた首だけが本棚や画面へと向かい、 終わりのない「知りたい」という欲求に導かれるかのように動きます。

そこに音はありません。激しい動きもありません。 ただ、そこにいるはずのない存在の気配だけが残ります。

そして気づいたときには—— すでに見られているのです。
