Shore Woman Yokai

The sea does not always reveal its true nature. Beneath its beauty lies something cold, distant, and unknowable.

Iso-onna is a mysterious presence said to appear along rocky shores and lonely coastlines, often on nights when the wind grows stronger and the waves refuse to settle.

At first glance, she looks like a solitary woman, standing quietly by the water’s edge. Her long hair moves gently with the sea breeze, and her figure seems almost fragile against the vast ocean.

But something feels wrong.

She does not move as the waves approach. She does not react to the cold. Her gaze remains fixed—distant, unfocused, as if looking beyond the world itself.

Those who step closer, drawn by concern or curiosity, soon sense a presence that does not belong among the living.

Some say she pulls people into the sea. Others believe she slowly drains their life, leaving nothing behind but silence.

Like the tide, she does not hurry. She simply waits— until the distance between you disappears.

磯女（いそおんな）

海は、その本当の姿を簡単には見せません。 その美しさの奥には、冷たく、計り知れないものが潜んでいます。

磯女は、岩場の多い海岸や人の少ない浜辺に現れるとされる妖怪です。 風が強まり、波が落ち着かない夜に姿を見せると言われています。

一見すると、ただ海辺に佇む女性のように見えます。 長い髪は潮風に揺れ、 その姿は広い海の前でどこか儚く映ります。

しかし、どこか違和感があります。

波が打ち寄せても動かず、 冷たさに反応することもありません。 その視線は遠く、 まるでこの世界を見ていないかのようです。

心配や好奇心から近づいた者は、 やがて生者とは異なる存在であることに気づきます。

海へ引きずり込まれるとも、 命をゆっくり奪われるとも言われていますが、 真実ははっきりしていません。

潮の流れのように、 彼女は急ぐことはありません。

ただ静かに、 距離がなくなる瞬間を待っているのです。
