The Willow Woman

There is a presence that does not announce itself. It is not seen at first— only felt, like a change in the air.

Yanagi Onna is a spirit said to appear beneath willow trees, where branches hang low and shadows gather. In Japanese folklore, the willow is often linked to lingering emotions, quiet sorrow, and things that remain long after they should have faded.

She does not approach. She does not call out.

She is simply there.

At a distance, she may seem like part of the landscape— just another shape among the drifting leaves. But as your eyes adjust, something feels wrong.

The movement does not match the wind. The figure does not fully belong to the scene.

柳女は、枝の垂れ下がる柳の下に現れるとされる霊です。 日本の伝承において柳は、消えきらない感情や静かな哀しみ、そして残り続ける気配を象徴する存在とされています。

彼女は近づいてくることはありません。 呼びかけることもありません。

ただ、そこに存在しています。

遠くから見れば、それは景色の一部にしか見えないかもしれません。 揺れる葉の中に紛れた、ただの影のように。

しかし、よく見ると違和感に気づきます。 風と動きが合っていない。 そこにあるはずのない形が、静かに存在している。
