Daidarabotchi is a mythical giant in Japanese folklore, said to be so enormous that its movements formed mountains, valleys, and lakes. Each step is believed to have reshaped the world itself, leaving traces that still remain in the landscape today.

Unlike destructive monsters, Daidarabotchi is not defined by violence, but by scale. It is less a creature and more a presence—an embodiment of the earth’s immense and timeless power.

In this illustration, the colossal figure moves across mountains and forests, dwarfing everything below. Villages and rivers appear small and distant, emphasizing the overwhelming difference in scale and creating a sense that the giant exists beyond human perception.

The flowing lines of clouds and terrain are inspired by traditional Japanese art, adding depth and movement throughout the composition. The balance of detailed linework and open spaces creates an engaging coloring experience, allowing both intricate work and broad, relaxing color application.

ダイダラボッチ ― 大地を形づくる巨人

大地そのものを形づくったとされる、巨大な存在の伝説がある。

ダイダラボッチは、日本の伝承に登場する巨大な存在で、そのあまりの大きさゆえに、歩いた跡が山や谷、湖になったと語られています。その一歩一歩が地形を変え、現在の景色にもその痕跡が残されていると考えられています。

他の妖怪のように破壊を目的とする存在ではなく、ダイダラボッチは「スケールそのもの」を象徴しています。それは生き物というよりも、大地の持つ永遠性と圧倒的な存在感を体現した存在です。

本作品では、その巨体が山や森をまたぎながら進む様子が描かれています。下に広がる村や川は小さく、遠くに感じられ、人間の世界とは異なる次元に存在しているかのようなスケール感が表現されています。
